The Upfront Room · Our standards
Good judgment.
Earned trust.
A publication for travellers who will pay for a better holiday—and want to understand what they are buying.
Who we write for
Design-conscious travellers and families who value space, comfort, good food and thoughtful service. Our perspective comes from two Auckland architects travelling with their son.
We look at the details that affect daily life: the room’s position, the outlook from a lounger, sleep, storage, service and the practicalities of getting there.
Our editorial promise
We paid for all three hotel stays reviewed here. Crowne Plaza’s apology wine and points are disclosed in its review.
Our ratings reflect our own experience. We distinguish what we used from what we observed, and identify hotel photographs separately from our own.
Commercial fit
Relevant partnerships could include accommodation, transport and thoughtfully chosen travel experiences. A useful placement should help readers make a decision in the context of the article they are reading.
Paid placements and affiliate links will be clearly identified. A commercial relationship will not buy a favourable review or change a rating.
Future booking links should sit beside useful room and location advice. Sponsored features will be labelled, and hosted stays will state what was provided. Partners may flag factual errors, but our experience, conclusions and ratings remain ours.
A publication in its early days
We are building a focused collection of firsthand reviews. We do not yet publish audience or reach claims. Any future media information will use measured readership figures.
Our priority is a useful, independent publication that readers return to when planning their next stay.
